Spearhead Bluet (Coenagrion hastulatum)

Odaliidrik

This damsel is busy eating a larvae of mosquito (?).

Ruby Whiteface (Leucorrhinia rubicunda)

Punakas-rabakiil

A fairly common species of our wetlands.

Black-tailed Skimmer (Orthretrum cancellatum) eating a beetle

Harilik sinikiil

A very common DF in our area.

Brilliant Emerald (Somatochlora metallica)

Läik-hiilgekiil

With their metallic bodies, emeralds have really military look. Despite being bit elusive, this species is a common sight in Estonia.

Four-spotted Chaser (Libellula quadrimaculata)

Harilik vesikiil

The emergence flights of Four-spotted Chasers can be spectacular and sometimes they can be seen in thousands, especially so at coastal bays (e.g. Sutlepa, Saunja).

River Clubtail (Gomphus flavipes)

Ida-jõgihobu

This poor record shot shows one of the rarest dragonflies i've managed to find so far. River Clubtail is found only in very few spots in Estonia.

Yellow-winged Darter (Sympetrum flaveolum)

Kollatähn-loigukiil

Yellow-winged Darter is a fine-looking creature. A common species encountered especially around flooded meadows and fish-pond systems in Estonia.

Banded Demoiselle (Calopteryx splendens)

Vööt-vesineitsik

One of our most common riverine odonate - Banded Demoiselle is found all over Estonia.
